We own a 13 stall bank barn with tackroom, feed room, hot water for horse washing area. We have three large, fenced paddocks, two large pastures with a creek that runs the entire property (totals 35 acres of pasture), 2 outdoor rings (190 X 90 and 190 X 65) and access to riding trails.
Despite the hot weather and lack of rain, our pastures have remained green and lush because of Valley Creek. Our horses enjoy relaxing in the creek during gthe summer, and have 24 hour access to fresh, clean water. Sunset Valley Farm works with the Brandywine Conservancy to maintain the integrity and natural beauty of our property.
Your horse is not bound to a paddock. Our horses run free in the many acres of rolling pasture dotted with trees.
Lastly, Maria Kenny takes the time to know your horse so that any changes can be detected immediately. Your horse will be personally cared for and attended to by Maria. All boarders are well informed regarding the health and well being of their horse. The farm house is occupied by tenants so the horses are rarely left alone.

Includes care by the owner and/or farm tenant, large box stall, hay and grain twice a day, administering of supplements, medication, and daily visual checkup, blanket service, stall cleaned once daily, deworming on 3 month rotating schedule, use of riding arena, access to riding trails and long turnout. You must provide blankets for your horse, fly mask if desired, supplements, etc.
The grain included in the full and field board is up to 4 quarts per day of your choice: Pennfield 10% sweet, Nutrena Safe Choice, Hay Cubes and Purina Strategy, Purina Equine Senior. Extra grain quantities can be priced out. Ponies are fed Enrich 32 at no additional charge. We also use Timothy Hay and Orchard Grass; Alfalfa is provided by the owner or can be ordered by the barn at an additional fee.
Layup: Check with Maria for daily rate based on services needed.
Includes stall confinement, stall cleaned daily as needed, limited turnout in paddock, administration of medications, and supervision. Veterinary assistance and changing of dressings are extra charges.

Training Board: Have a young horse that needs to be started? Or an older horse with a problem? Whether it's a small annoyance or a dangerous vice, let us work with you to resolve it. You deserve a calm and willing horse. We can help. Contact Maria for Training Board rates.
Field Board: We offer two types of field board: full field (horse enjoys the outdoors every day and has access to large run in shed. Limited availability and extra charge for stall use for sickness/injury). Partial full board - horses enjoy the outdoors daily but have their own designated stall in the barn for inclement weather, sickness or injury. Not all horses are suited for full field board, and Sunset Valley Farm reserves the right to advise the owner regarding proper board for their horse (based on age, health and breed of horse).
